I agree with Hettinger that the most qualified person should get the job, and most importantly I base my argument on the fact that failing to give such a person the job discourages people from working hard to get the qualifications. This, eventually, undermines the quality of job that people do because they are done by people who are less qualified (Allhoff, & Vaidva, 2008).

In political sense, the author Newton defines justice as embracing of any principle of truth and morality into the practice of a community. According to Newton, the ideal of equality cannot ever justify a violation of justice because, for example, affirmative action is implemented in the name of ensuring equality but it has ended up violating people’s justice because it has harmed members of certain groups. Therefore, the author concludes that the principles that are applied to ensure equality in the society have denied people their justice, for example because it is a violation of justice to offer a person a job if they are not the most qualified for such a job (Allhoff, & Vaidva, 2008).
