For this reaction paper( a paragraph, about 1 page for each book) , books you need to read are 1. No longer human by Osamu Dazai and 2.The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger . The following instruction and example is what I have gotten from professor. Please following the instruction to write this reaction paper.
What I expect is your own personal feelings about, and thoughts on, the work, whether or not you liked it and why. I would like to hear what you personally felt and thought reading the play, rather than its plot summary/outline. See the following example:
A Doll’s House – Reaction Paper
Ibsen’s drama, A Doll’s House, appealed to me because of the way the author uses multiple layers of symbolism and foreshadowing throughout the story to hint at the underlying tensions between Nora and Torvald. Ibsen’s use of subtle meaning to convey Nora’s inner desires and frustrations—such as the concept of breaking or tearing something to pieces (p. 3, 5, 9, 29, 33, 70), or the act of Nora eating the macaroons (p. 1, 4)—was especially clever. From these kinds of subtle hints throughout the story, I had the impression that Nora continually puts up a façade, concealing her true feelings about Torvold who looks down on her and internalizing her desire to become more independent.
I enjoyed most the irony in story’s ending, that although the money lending problem with Krogstad had been resolved and everything returned to normal in Torvald’s eyes, his reaction convinces Nora to go so far as to completely end their marriage together and abandon him. Rather than Torvald disowning Nora and shutting her out of his life, which he first intends to do immediately upon reading Krogstad’s first letter (for example on p. 63 he says she will not be allowed to continue raising the children), it is actually Nora who breaks off the relationship as Torvald pleads with her to reconsider. <-Good point. Rather than itself ruining Nora’s relationship with Torvald, the crisis created by Krogstad turns out to be merely a vehicle by which Nora—after witnessing Torvald’s reaction to finding out about her debt and forgery—finally fully realizes the nature of her own oppression and the fact that she cannot truly love Torvald.
