101MS: Further coursework briefing
1) By report, we mean a write-up of the solutions to the questions, with suitable explanations and showing any workings, that addresses the questions in the coursework.
2) The questions for which you are required to use the MATLAB software to carry out calculations are stated explicitly with phrases like ‘Using MATLAB’, ‘Utilising MATLAB’ or ‘Using the MATLAB symbolic Math Toolbox’.
3) However, if a question does not specifically mention the need to use MATLAB, then you can choose to do your calculations with or without the use of MATLAB.
4) The MATLAB commands, output (only the required results) and any figures should be copied and pasted into a Word document. This should be at the point where the question is tackled alongside workings and not contained in a separateappendix. Your workings can either be typed or leave sufficient space for handwritten exposition (should be neat and legible).
5) It is absolutely necessary that when using MATLAB commands such as linspace to create ‘vectors’ that a semi-colon (;) is applied at the end of the command otherwise the irrelevant output will be displayed and you are more likely to copy and paste these unwanted output.
6) The report should be kept to a maximum of 10 pages (20 sides).
7) There is no requirement for a title page, contents page, introduction etc. The requirement is that students simply answer the questions as they go through the assignment, showing any workings with suitable explanations.
8) Under no circumstances should the assignment to be submitted in a plastic binder or wallet. A single staple at the top left corner is sufficient.
9) Finally, please note that this is an individual report and any evidence of group work or plagiarism will be treated as cheating. This will be dealt with according to Coventry University rules and regulations.
