(2) Use this household location theory to explain how urban form will be changed if current gas prices stay high for a long time. (3) What will happen on urban form if income keeps increasing for a long time?

For a given land use type, Von Thünen’s land use model initially uses a straight line to represent the linear relationship between the profit of a market and the distance from the market. The standard model or Monocentric model uses an exponential curve to describe the relationship between land price and the distance from Central Business District (CBD). Describe Von Thünen’s land use model and explain how to develop the exponential curve for land price and distance based on Von Thünen’s model. (Note: You can refer to the tomato and potato example discussed in class )

What is gravity model? How have urban planners used it in land use and transportation planning practice? Describe the model and provide an example to demonstrate the usage of the model.
