Argument paper

Introduction
This an essay of a dialectic argument that focuses on the issue of rising tuition fees at the modern day universities.
Thesis
The university fees in the modern universities has been mounting at an alarming rate to the extent that even the relatively well off families are struggling in paying the fees for their members in such institutions. This is incorrect since training institutions should not be commercialized as they are today. The ever growing fees should be controlled because if no action is taken then we might end up in a disaster as a society. This is true because people might find it expensive to go to the universities, and consequently, there will be lack of professionals in the labor market resulting to social difficulties (Kim, para 1).
Universities should take a leading role in making sure that there is an equal playing ground for all the academic institutions irregardless of status. For instance, the elite institutions should be on the forefront in providing scholarship opportunities and financial aids thus making other expensive universities to reduce their costs. This provides an equal ground for competition among the universities (Kim, para 6).
The differential idea of paying school fees on the basis of one’s residence should not be the case since it brings about an element of discrimination against other students. Without students from other places, it becomes impossible for the university to rise to the status of international standard. It has been asserted that even if the argument is based on the taxes which are paid by the residents in favor of their students, it should be noted that the foreign students may offer their services to the community later on either as interns or as professionals and therefore they need to be considered when subsidizing the tuition costs (Kim, para 11).
The government should come up with mechanisms of supporting the universities. This will be helpful not only to the university but also to the members of the society since they may be able to meet the rising cost of running the universities. Consequently, the universities costs may remain to be stable and affordable to those who are qualified to join them. By doing this, the government will be supporting its own nation to have professionals in different field and therefore stimulate further development within the nation (Kim, para 12).
It has been observed that standardization of school fees might be disadvantageous to the students from the lower social class since most standardization mechanisms focuses on the middle class and the upper class. If the fees are raised, it should be so in accordance with the student’s ability to pay. This will provide equal opportunities for all who qualify to join the university regardless of their economic status. This should be undertaken together with the issuance of scholarships to students who lack the finances but are bright in their academic endeavors (Kim, para 4).
Antithesis
High education costs may be useful in stemming up an element of quality in the education system (Kim, para 15). This is brought about by the fact that there will be fewer students per class and more qualified professors. Access to the professors and the supervisors will also be easy for the students. The fact that there are only a few students in a class means that the lecturer will not be straining to teach because of the great contact with the students. Facilities will also be improved thus enabling the students to enjoy their learning experience. The environment may also be well taken care of thus enabling the students to learn in a friendly environment. The employees are also able to work full heartedly because of the high motivation that they receive by working at the institution.
It is said that high cost of fees may cover a wide range of concerns in the academic welfare of the students. This may enable the students to receive allowances on internship programs as well as in the field academic trips. Transportation may also be provided to the students to and from the institutions thus saving on time. This may ensure that syllabus is completed within good time and that there is no any student who is left behind due to late coming (Kim, para 15).
Foreign students may find the cost of university to be very expensive when compared with the residential students. This may be based on the fact that the taxes which are paid by the local community should be geared towards assisting those who reside within the country. The taxes paid subsidizes the costs of fees for the students from within but the foreign ones have to pay for the full costs, a factor which makes the cost of schooling to be expensive for them (Kim, para 12).
One glaring reason as to why the cost of education is increasingly going higher is because of the fact that the cost of academic materials are also rising. For instance, the fees charged are usually used in running the universities thus aiding in remunerating the faculty staff and other university employees. This is in addition to the cost of equipments such as computer systems, laboratory materials, facility upkeep and provision of a comfortable student learning experience. It has been argued that the costs of all these aspects are on the rise thus pressurizing the university management to raise their costs in order for them to be able to meet these costs (Kim, para 15).
Conclusion
Despite the fact that high costs of education leads to the generation of very qualified graduates from the universities, such professionals may be very few in number and therefore not be able to serve the society as is required. This idea also locks out the potential of other very bright students who might not be in a position to pay such a huge amount of fees. All the stakeholders in the academic arena including the society members and the federal government need to come together in a bid to come up with mechanism to ensure that students who qualify for university education are enrolled and that the education provided is of high quality.
