Guidelines and Structure:
• Choose three books we have discussed in class from at least two units.
• Think about one theme that is common to them.

news (browse www.bbc.com or www.nytimes.com or www.america.aljazeera.com or www.cnn.com
or www.theguardian.com or do a keyword search for images) OR an artistic/creative image (browse
Google Art Project or Philadelphia Mural Arts Program for example).
• Provide three captions with commentary.
1. Image: In the first page attach the image (make sure to include information about the image in the
Work Cited page such as photographer/artist name, title, date).
2. First Caption: Your second page should start with a quote from the first chosen book. The remainder
of the page should explain why you think the quotation fits the image, and in what sense. Explain the
issue or problem in the quote and why you think this caption fits: How does the image illuminate,
supplement, or challenge the quote? What impression do you hope to make by captioning this image
this way? 2
3. Second Caption: Your third page should start with a quotation from the next book. Explain the quote
and why you chose it. The remainder of the page should accurately explain why this sentence or
