The second change model to evaluate is the 12 Action Steps model. Steps include getting support from lower groups, rewarding behavior that supports change, and creating feedback. The action steps model provides more depth to the change process. The model seeks more participation from other influences to support the prospected change. For example, if the prospected change impacts groups on a larger scale, the team may seek to gain approval or feedback from groups that will be affected prior to rolling out the change (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, 2006).
BARTS change of adding a security detail to the railway system will have an impact on the commuters. Commuters will likely be happy about the security detail, however BARTS can seek feedback on the proposed change to ensure they have the approval sought prior to implementing the desired change. In addition, continuous feedback during the implementation process is critical to success. Once the change begins, plans can shift direction if feedback is negative or new data arises as a result of actions taken (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, 2006).
