Guidelines for vocabulary lists–Updated
The vocabulary for historic dress is challenging, even when the past is not so far
distant. It changes, often radically, over time and from place to place part of the
key to understanding the sources for historic dress is having a command of what
people called their clothes in the period you’re looking at. Every other week, I
will give you two vocabulary lists from the period we are studying at the time,
usually containing 10 words each, and ask you to define them by looking the
words up in specialist dictionaries in the course of the week following. Lists are
due at the beginning of class the week following. Please submit them
electronically; Moodle is preferred.
