Social Movements
Extra Credit Opportunity
Film Review
YOU CAN DO THE MIX TAPE ONE OR THE SISTERS OF 77
This is an opportunity to get a chuck of extra credit points at once rather than the few at a time on the discussion board. This assignment, if done properly, is worth a possible 15 points. The max of extra credit is 25 for the class, if you have done extra credit on the discussion boards I will add this to those points on Canvas.
The assignment is to choose a documentary film about a social movement, watch, and write a review. I have provided links to lists of films below, but you may find one on your own. The film must be no shorter than about 45 minutes- some on the films for action site are very brief- more like quick informational pieces than films. Please make sure the film is about a social movement, protest event, revolution, etc… but not just about a social issue.
To get full credit, you need to generally summarize the film, and then link it to what you’ve been learning in class in some way- referring to course concepts or relevant course ideas that arose in the story. You review should be at least one full single spaced page, or about 600 words.
Here are 3 lists of films to use, not all films on each list will quality as being about a movement, so make sure to read the synopsis before choosing..
