Summary of the literature / rationale for the research (about 200 words)
This study will have suggested a number of terms to refer to CSR in Saudi Arabia and its related concepts. CSR should be understood as a concept requiring modern organisations to take the interests of society into consideration by allowing themselves to be held accountable for the effects of their activities. Being involved in activities that encourage environmental sustainability and conservation is also an important aspect of CSR (Ackerman, 2008). The prevalence and importance of social media in Saudi Arabia has motivated the nation’s corporations to become more involved in CSR activities. Corporations with an aim of increasing their brand awareness are aware that social media is an important part of how the public perceives its brand. The use of social media to promote socially responsible activities affords corporations opportunities to develop a positive context for their product branding. According to Chapple and Moon (2005), The benefits of CSR can be viewed on three levels: benefits to the involved company, benefits to the community and benefits to the environment. Investors have also increased their pressure on corporations by judging the company performance through analysis of the company’s ethical behaviours (Lewis, 2003). Companies are expected to face various challenges in their efforts to act in a socially responsible manner. Stakeholders should assess the benefits and disadvantages of this involvement and settle on the most viable solution.

The indicative data collection methods will be as follows:
Primary data which will be collected from companies’ managers, social activists, academics, journalists, and staff who are interested in social responsibilities, by sending them a questionnaire to fill using monkey survey method.
The link to the survey will be sent to the targeted group via email. Once they complete the survey data will be saved and analysed accordingly.
Secondary data that will be collected from the annual reports and financial statements of companies listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange Market, such data can be found at www.tadawul.com.sa which is the supervised by the Capital Market Authority in Saudi Arabia.
