American Civil War

The history of the United States of America details numerous iconic events that helped to shape the currently as it is in the current times. Such events are iconic since an opposite result to the one recorded in history might have led to extreme outcomes far removed from the present state of the country. One of the most Iconic and well-documented events in the history of the United States is the America Civil War. The civil war marked a point in history that the United States truly united into a single country consisting of multiple states. The results of the American Civil War united the US as the Union faction won the bloodiest war in US history over the Confederate states from the South. The conflict marked the lowest ebb of internal conflict in the history of the US as states rose against states to oppose or support the secessionist movement that was popular in the southern states. In this regard, the American Civil War was the defining moment of the United States of America as it marked the emergence of a single nation from warring individual states.

Results
Based on the results of the research conducted in the method section, the American Civil War helped shape the culture of the United States by uniting the country into a single nation. The highlight of the Civil War is the introduction of the United States flag that initially had thirteen stars on the blue background. Later on, the number of starts grew in number in proposition with the number of new members to the nation. The current version of the flag is a true testament to the changes the country has undergone in recent years as it welcomed more states to its fold in light of the secession sentiments expressed by the eleven southern states that formed the Confederate states (Rhodes, 138). The Union states winning the Civil War set in motion a chain of events in history that ultimately culminated in the formation of the fifty-state nation that we know.
According to the information gathered in the methods section above, the events of the Civil War marked one of the lowest points in the history of the US as states rose against other states. However, the results of the war were not exclusively negative in nature as popular opinion would have it. The war itself was nothing short of a catastrophe but the outcomes created the perfect foil for changes within the United States that benefit US citizens to this moment. Additionally, the events during that period also helped to shape the international relationship between the US and its immediate neighbours. The lessons learned from that time provide justification for all pre-emptive measures currently in place to limit the chances of a similar event happening again. That period in history serves a reminder of the outcomes of mass violence and the implications it could have on the standard functions of the society. Additionally, it provides contextual evidence of the value of political stability and the changes recorded in the political landscape of the US after the war (Long 83).
The secession sentiments expressed by the Confederate States stemmed from decades of tension and disagreements between the northern states and the southern states. The findings from the previous section reveal several reasons that include state rights versus federal authority, slavery and westward expansion. History shows that the election of the Republican president Abraham Lincoln Served as the catalyzed for the secession of seven states in the south since he stood for anti-slavery (Hummel, 164). The initial seven states included South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Texas. Later on, four more states followed suit after the onset of the civil war which resulted in four years of civil strife in the US. The four additional states that joined at a later date included the state of Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The war raged on in various areas marked by historic battles in Bull Run, Antietam, Vicksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. Ultimately, the Confederates surrendered in 1865 after the massive loss of life and immense damage to the southern regions of the United States at the time (Davis, 179).
Conclusion
Understanding the history of the United States during the American Civil War is integral to understanding how the US morphed into the global leader it is today. Naturally, the resources studied for this section reveal the reasons that led to the growth of hostilities between those supporting and opposing the Secession sentiments. That information is essential for one seeking to understand the impact of the US history on current affairs. Any form of conflict must have two warring factions that amass the support of other states that hold a similar point of view. The American Civil War marked a point in history where the Union states went up against the confederate states for the rights to exist as a single state or secede into two regions. The results of the war are still visible in the U.S as evidenced by the United States flag. The flag is a national symbol that consists of stars on a blue background as well as the red-and-white horizontal stripes (Testi, 32).
In light of the findings documented in this abstract, the civil war marked an important period in the history of the US. The reasons that catapulted the simmering tension into civil war became are still relevant to this day as evidenced by the continued fight for human rights against social injustice. The war ushered in the era o a unified country under a single banner and a symbolic star-studded flag as a commemoration for all states that joined the winning side of the winning states. The Civil War was a historic event in the US based on the level of influence it inflicted in the history of the US.
