Formation of question
The research question should adhere to the following guidelines:
1. formation of question is based on theory, previous research, and experience;
2. stated in the form of a question; and
3. is focused and clear (i.e., specific, measureable, and feasible).
Part I should address all the areas of the rubric, and your paper must follow APA guidelines.
That includes the Introduction, the Problem Definition and the Literature Review. Realize that the Literature Review has two purposes. First, it shows that you are not simply repeating research has been done several times. Second, it shows that your research is adding to the body of knowledge that currently exists. You must show how your topic relates to the current body of knowledge. For example, if you find a lot of research comparing statistics test scores of males versus females and you want to research this topic, then you may want to add in another variable. You may want to compare test scores of males and females after the subjects have gotten less than four hours of sleep the previous night. Make your a little different from what has been done previously.
BlackBerry was once deemed the leading Smartphone as well as a savvy business tool allowing business people to have convenient handheld access to their email. Although lately, the BlackBerry maker- Research In Motion (RIM) has faced countless problems attributed to technical issues, a three-day outage of service, and trademark disputes (Russell, 2012). Other contributing factors that have lead to the slow demise of the BlackBerry have been its slow browsing, and the few available apps available for the BlackBerry (Lashinsky, 2011). Its biggest hit has been due to its competitors, particularly Apple and Android who have targeted BlackBerry’s largest market- the business market (Russell, 2012).
? BlackBerry’s initial problems began in 2007 when Apple’s iPhone was released. BlackBerry’s maker, RIM’s approach to withstand its competition was to focus on its hardware versus its software. This later proved to be a mistake as Apple’s products began to dominate due to its on-screen usage (Russell, 2012). Its market share was indicative of its downfall as its sales continued to fall. RIM has also encountered its third successive quarter of losses, with its average selling prices are down (Arthur, 2012). With new products continually emerging, BlackBerry will continue to face challenges. Therefore, to remotely brace itself, RIM may be forced to reduce its prices further, which will ultimately hurt its revenue. BlackBerry is ill equipped to be categorized within the cheaper end of Smartphone’s but due to its competitor’s success, has been forced into that sector (Arthur, 2012).
? Although, BlackBerry has fallen behind its competition, RIM still maintains to withstand its competition and more so to the overseas market. With BlackBerry’s particular advantages such as instant messaging, RIM’s new approach will be to focus on improving and strengthening its relationship with its customers as well as its operating system (Russell, 2012). With Apple and Android users amongst the masses, BlackBerry still has many committed users nationally as well as worldwide. This year, RIM plans on releasing an upcoming version of the operating system called BB10. The long-term success of RIM and BlackBerry is unknown, but their chief executive, Thorsten Heins, remains optimistic that BlackBerry will overcome and surpass its competitors (Arthur, 2012).
? BlackBerry must consider what its customers find appealing in the sense of what has kept its current customers committed as users, as well as assess the technological advances that can be made to BlackBerry that would surpass its competitors. Doing so, may once again get BlackBerry’s back into the hands of people.
