Calculation Exam Assessment 2 – Clinical Decision Making Program
You will be required to complete two online scenario’s during the semester. These are Mrs
Clementine (re-visited) and an associated Medication Calculation Test and Mr Nick Holt
scenarios. You will find these on Blackboard by clicking on the links below or under ‘My
Communities’ on the Blackboard homepage. After working through the online scenarios you
are required to complete the corresponding workbook and print and bring them with you to
your respective Clinical Practice Session. The workbook will be discussed as a group and you
will receive a mark of Complete or Not Complete.
Within the Mrs Clementine (re-visited) scenario, you are also required to complete a 20
question Medication Calculation Test. You may complete this test at home and you may use a
calculator and medical drug guide to assist you. You will be able to view your grade through
the Grade Centre under Collaboration. Many students have previously experienced internet
difficulties when completing the Medication Calculation Test at home. To minimise the risk of
this problem occurring, it is highly recommended that you complete the Medication Calculation
Test on a QUT computer in a computer lab & use Mozilla Firefox as your web browser.
Yo
u must achieve 90% for this test. You will be given 1 week to complete the Medication
Calculation Test. In total, you will be allowed 3 attempts to achieve a 90% grade. Please note
that you will initially have 2 attempts in week 5 to achieve a 90% grade. If, after 2 attempts you
have not achieved a 90% grade, you will be required to seek math support during week 6 to
assist with developing your theoretical approach to one aspect of medication safety, that is,
medication calculations. The Medication Calculation Test will then be re-opened for the third
and final attempt in week 7. Students who do not achieve a 90% grade after 3 attempts at the
Medication Calculation Test will be unsuccessful with the on-campus summative assessment
and will be unable to progress to off-campus clinical work experience. Consequently, students
who have not achieved a 90% grade in the Medication Calculation Test will be unsuccessful
with this unit this semester. Instructions for completing the online clinical decision making program
