For your report this first week you will report on a topic or issue that has policy implications. The main goal of this assignment is to get our heads into what policy is, and to understand that policy is a process!
I did a quick search in NPR and found segments that were recently aired that have health policy implications. You will choose from the list below for your report. Note that the articles focus on health at different levels. You may want to do additional background reading and research to be better informed on the topic.

Formatting: Please use the following formatting for preparing this assignment (include the numbers too!).
Introduction: Briefly summarize the news piece. Why does this topic interest you?
Description:
Identify the form of policy (See P. 13-17 for the four forms). Why this form?
Identify the category of policy (See P.17-21 for allocative or regulatory categories. If you choose regulatory, also identify which subtype). Why this category?
Identify the health determinant(s) this health issue potentially influences (See P. 21-23 for the health determinants. There may be more than one!). Why this/these determinants?
Would this policy impact more targeted health care delivery organizations, or does it have the potential to impact the larger health care delivery systems—ie many facets of an integrated system? Identify the health care delivery organizations that are or may be impacted by this policy (See P. 30 -32).
Future Implications: Please address the policy’s potential impact. Exhibit 1.5 on P 22 is awesome if you are a visual learner. It will help you organize your thoughts. Hint: A good response for #3 will look at the issue from different angles or perspectives.
