The tale little red riding hood is the version of a famous administrator and literary giant in France in the 17th century. From this story, the little girl is referred as Little Red Riding Hood from the origins of her cloak. This is her cloak that she received from her darling mother as a present. In the story, she is supposed to go and visit her apparently sick grandmother taking with her a fruit cake and a bowl of rum butter. On her she meets a charming wolf that tricks her and it gets to her grandmother’s house bringing death and doom. On the other route Little Red riding hood is busy enjoying nature and to the worst admiring her beauty feeling self conscious. By the time she gets to her grandmother’s house she is already dead and the wolf has already assumed her identity. Her folly is presented by the fact that she doesn’t recognize all the tell tale signs or imminent danger yet that of disguise. This story differs from my story about Grandmother’s Tale in the fact that the girl in this tale manages to escape from the wolf referred to as the ‘bzou.’ In my modern form of the story, the presentation of the details is changed shallowly but the concentration of the moral is different. In the Little red riding hood the moral revolves around the lack of clear intuition and understanding as well as female folly. Perault presented the women of his time in a manner that is quick to trust and divulge details easily without a second thought. In this story, little red does not even remember the teachings from her mother and worse still she gets eaten just like her mother. In my story, there is the emphasis on intuition as in this story the girl witting out does the wolf by tricking him that she want to help herself outside the house. This is an obvious commentary that the female is not stupid as thought but at some point there is the capacity to use natural wit to evade danger. These two stories however are a universal commentary in terms of their similarities about the concerns of females. In the two stories, it is clear that the female take delight in charm, flatter and nicety from perceived males. It is the desire of feeling wanted and beautiful that can lead to disaster in their lives. Indeed this has happened as illustrated by the Little Red Riding Hood. These tales serve as classic warnings against too much trust, self glory and folly fro the young and the old.
