Note the following:
All tasks must await the Go ahead Meeting, which is on 23rd March 2015.
The Staff Meeting cannot take place until Tasks B, C and D are complete.
Tasks B, C and D can take place concurrently.
If possible, the Wall Building, Paving Laying can take place at the same time.
Trees cannot be planted until walls are complete.
Digging of flower beds can happen at the same time trees are planted, but planting of shrubs, bulbs, etc cannot start until Paving, Tree Planting and Flower bed digging are complete.
Laying turf for lawns can begin as soon as Flower Beds have been dug and Trees Planted
Pruning and preparation for opening can only start once all other tasks are complete
The Resource Costs for each of the categories of staff is as follows:
Project Manager £100 per hour
Horticulturalist: £70 per hour
Traffic Analyst: £60 per hour
Soil Analyst: £50 per hour
Paving and Masonry Expert: £60 per hour
Contractors £30 per hour
Equipment cost to hire £300 per week
Assume a start date of 23rd March 2015
For the three elements below you are asked to assume you are the Project Manager, reporting to Senior Management.. You should use the reporting functionality provided by MS Project software or similar.
The Senior Management would like a network diagram showing the scheduling of the project from Task A, Go Ahead to Task N, Opening and Review. This should be introduced by a narrative explaining your plan and any assumptions that you have made in forming these plans. You need to make sure that the senior management understand exactly how long this project will take as they plan to organize an event following the opening and on the same day as Task N. (200 words maximum) [20 Marks]
Another requirement is that a table showing the cost of resources for this project is produced. Again this should be accompanied by a narrative explaining your costing and any assumptions that you have made. The total resource costs needs to be clearly stated. (200 words maximum) [20 Marks]
Doubt has been raised about the availability of all the staff concerned. The Senior Management have asked for a resources schedule showing who is needed and when. What would the impact be if no Paving and Masonry Expert was available for two working weeks following the staff meeting? (200 words maximum)
