Instructions:
Select a business/corporation or industry that you are interested in or would potentially like to have a career in one day.
Potential data sources and tutorials:
Please check the Project–> Data Sources module for more information.
Identify a specific variable of interest (dependent variable, must be ratio) for the business/corporation/industry of your choice. Think about what other variables (independent variables) you believe would affect, predict or have a relationship with your chosen variable. Select a minimum of 10 total independent variables to examine: at least 2 must be categorical and at least 2 must be continuous (numeric).
Find a resource(s) where you can gather data points about your variables for your chosen business/corporation/industry. These data points cannot be time points or over time – they must be the same year (or close) for all the variables you are using for your project.
Use the feedback given by the instructor (check point I, optional) to make any changes to your variables selected or the number of data points
Collect data at the same time intervals as the dependent variable for each of your 10 independent variables
There should be at least 50 data points in your data set which includes data points for all variables
Write up the following as separate tabs in your excel file:
Tab 1: the cleaned data, with IVs and DVs identified
Tab 2: Include a description of the business/corporation/industry you chose for your project. Briefly identify the purpose of the project, e.g. the problem you want to solve, how you think you will use the data in your context (preferably business-related), etc.
Tab 3: Include a brief description of all your independent variables (minimum of 10) and your dependent variable. Explain the meaning of each variable, and full variable names if abbreviating.
Tab 4: Include the list of resources used to get information on the data points.

Requirements:
All variables need to be in columns, observations in rows with an associated element
Please submit or ID the worksheet that contains the data you want me to grade, not 20 worksheets from a database online.
ID the dependent variable and the independent variables you plan to use
No time series data: A time series is a sequence of observations on a variable measured at successive points in time or over successive periods of time. The measurements may be taken every hour, day, week, month, or year, or at any other regular interval.
You need at least 50+ observations, 10 independent variables (2 must be categorical and at least 2 must be continuous), 1 dependent variable (ratio data), no time series data, that you will be able to explain in a business context.
Make sure to include all four tabs indicated in the 8 (the above section)
Deliverables:
An Excel file with four tabs: (1) the data tab with DV and IVs identified, (2) the project description tab: purpose and industry: briefly identify the purpose of the project, e.g. the problem you want to solve, the industry it applies to, and how you think you will use the data in your context, (3) the data description tab, and (4) the data collection resource tab.
