Euthanasia

Euthanasia has been defined differently by different scholars. It means the act intentionally ending someone’s life to relieve pain and suffering. It in a medical term it refers to an easy and painless, happy death, which it was a physician responsibility to alleviate pain and suffering from the patient (Friedman, 2012)
The oxford dictionary defines euthanasia as one that incorporates suffering as unnecessary condition with the painless killing of the patient, suffering from incurable diseases and painful disease or irreversible coma (Gilford, 2011). It has also defined as a mode of inducing or permitting death painlessly as a relief from pain and suffering. From the definition above it can be found out that euthanasia is mercy killing letting someone die because of feeling pity on him or her.
Those who are in support for euthanasia have argued the need to legalize it. Mainly if the circumstances are forcing one to do so, they also state the need to know, how this laws can be legalized. They also insist the need to distinguish between the negative and the positive right of self-determination to euthanasia. Thus the requirement for the individuals to put about reasons on why he or she will want the act to be taken on them (Becker & Becker ,2013)
According to, Aristotle & Reeve (2014), the opponents of Euthanasia criticize those that are in support for it. They question whether legalization of euthanasia can promote individual willingness to make his or her own decision. Consequently leading to the promotion the ethical and moral values on life. In explaining and supporting for one to have life and live it to the fullest .Hence an individual according to the opponents has a right to life and to make, choices over his own life
There is different types of euthanasia practiced in the world today , whereby in the different countries it is either legal or illegal. We have voluntary euthanasia ,this is the one in which the individual decides to take up his or her own life without being forced. The second one is the non-voluntary euthanasia this is the one that the life of the individual is cut off without their consent. The last type is the active and passive euthanasia whereby voluntary and non-voluntary are divided. Passive euthanasia is withholding treatments like not giving the patient antibiotics, hence discontinuation of life. On the other hand, active euthanasia entails the usage of chemical that are lethal to force one to die or end life (Loue, 2008)
Different scholars have put forward arguments, in support of euthanasia and others have viewed it as a crime against humanity or the life of the individual. For them really asks why law and technique has played a big role in leading to euthanasia in today world he calls it an easy death. They further explain in their book the origin of euthanasia back in the United States of America (McDougall, Gorman &Roberts ,2008)
The control of an individual life must depend keenly on the social organism and the right that an individual has over his or her life he argues that this is a merely thought and ultimate human claim, he stated in relation to the killing during the Nazi regime that the state has authority over the individual and hence it has a right to kill to keep the social organism alive hence the state should own death (Giddens, 2013)
The opponents of euthanasia he argues, that the proponents have people have the right of self- determination. Thus they should be allowed to choose their own fate in life, assisting one to die is a better choice because it alleviates them from suffering. Hence for him he sees there is the need for the legalization of the euthanasia, in order to help the people not to suffer in pain. In the end this case make them free from pain, in his arguments he finally stated that legalizing euthanasia will bring about dire consequences.
According to, Runzheimer $Lasern (2011) , where they first comes in and discussed the, the five stages of grief in someone’s life he stated that there is need for hospices those that take care of the terminally ill patients, or the care movements, to let the people be and have their life. Simply because this people they have not yet finished their business here on earth. They should be left to continue living until they die naturally.
In a research carried out in the United States of America on physicians on Euthanasia. It was found you that, most of the physicians at 16% will prefer stopping the life of the individual. The reason being, their family demands so even when it was proved to be immature. Then 55% would not while 29% will depend on the circumstances. Hence forced to terminate one’s life. It further stated that 46% of the physicians agree to end a patient life. While 41% do not while others 14% think it depends. This clearly shows that even the doctors in some sense they really play a role in the euthanasia of the patience in order for them to relieve pain and suffering from the patients (Jerry, 2009)
The arguments of both the proponents and the opponents of the euthanasia. It has been found out that there is some sense of knowledge. In what they do support, for example, what is the need of one to stay in the hospitals and go through pain and suffering and one will eventually die. What is the point of staying in as life supporting machine and incur a lot of financial expenses and one can die safely and avoid all the repercussions. In the end of the day this person is going to die. Why can we not just kill the person and let the life of that person to rest in peace these are some of the arguments that they do put forward for those that support euthanasia.
On the other hand those that do not support euthanasia have argued on the religious point of view. In the sense that they explain that, only God has a right to take up any person life not a human being. Hence they go against the code of ethics and the rights of the individual the right to life. Taking away a person life brings about pain and agony among the family members and relatives in the sense that they are left mourning about their loved ones (Delnestro, 2011)
From the argument above, it can be found out that euthanasia is legal and at the same time it is illegal. It largely depends on the countries law that they have passed either the written law or the formal laws that is done through the act of parliament. In many countries it has been found out that this is not a crime. Hence it does happen, for example, during the wars many people are always killed involuntarily during the fights and this is a crime against humanity. In other instances there is great need to analyze why the euthanasia is carried out to the patient because sometimes there is need to end one’s life to stop pain and sufferings.
